Child poncho

This poncho is made of 2 rectangles.
My rectangles are 27.5 cm by 52 cm or 11 inches by 20.5 inches.
That is for about 3-4 years old
I used a 6mm hook.
For this size I used main color 1 ½ skeins of yarn. 1 skein is 100 gram and length of 241 m.
And 1 skein of 2nd color.
With the remaining yarn I made a baret.

Start with a chain of 36.
For this cross stitch you need an even number of chains.
The first and last stitch I did a normal dc.

Make a dc in 3rd from hook. DC to the end.
You have now 34 dc.

Row 2:
Chain 2 – counts as first dc.
Skip 1 stitch – dc in 3rd stitch – dc in the stitch you skipped.
Last stitch 1 dc

Row 3 – 35
Repeat row 2

Row 36
1 dc in every stitch.

Make another rectangle.

When you finished both, put them together.
Do a google search to put them together.
First time can be difficult, but you get the hang of it J

Make sure when you attach the parts, the lines with the dc are both on the side where you connect it to the other part :D
I will try to make a short movie how to attach, but I have to make 2 rectangles again than :D

For the neck I used the 2nd color.
Attach the yarn and chain 3. First dc
Dc all around evenly.
2nd row
Chain 3, next stitch is a front post dc, next a dc -  fpdc –dc till the end.
Row 3 -7
Repeat row 2.

For the bottom I made shells of 5dc in 1 stitch

Weave in all ends and your poncho is ready.

Its easy to make it smaller or bigger.
For a 3-4 month old I  made 2 rectangles of 11.5 cm  by 23 cm.
I started with hook 6 mm and chained 18.
That left me with 16 dc.
I made a total of 16 rows -  first and last dc and the rest the cross stitch.

You can use any stitch you want, as long as the measurements are correct.

For the baret I used a pattern I cant find anymore L
Just spend ½ hour looking for it.
Same yarn, same hook

But its pretty easy.

Begin with a magic circle and make 8 hdc in it. With the main color
Round 2: 2hdc in every stitch (16)
Round 3: 1 hdc, 2hdc in 1 , repeat till end (24)
Round 4: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2hdc in 1, repeat till end (32)
Round 5: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2hdc in 1, repeat till end (40)
Round 6: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2hdc in 1 , repeat till end (48)
Round 7: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in 1 , repeat till end (56)
Round 8: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc in 1 , repeat till end (64)
Round 9: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1hdc, 2 hdc in 1 , repeat till end (72)
Round 10 – 13 : 1 hdc in every stitch all around (72)
Round 14: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc together , repeat till end (64)
Round 15: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2 hdc together , repeat till end (56)
Round 16: 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 1 hdc, 2hdc together , repeat till end (48)
Change to 2nd color
Row 17- 20 : 1 sc in every stitch.
Cut the yarn and weave in all end.

Make a cute little pompon and attach at top of the baret :D
